A takeaway from this post is that somewhere in your formative years, you are introduced to the idea of time and furthermore, the future. It is ingrained in your head that you must wait for success, admiration, validation, and potential. Your potential, although perceived as positive, becomes an ideology that slowly leaks into your brain and takes over. What could I have been? What could I be? What am I not?
Everything in your life is slowly consumed by these thoughts, and you completely forget about your goals. You no longer care about succeeding because you deny yourself even the possibility of that. While searching for fulfillment in others, you fail to see that you could have found it within yourself and the life you’re already living. In searching for a life you imagined, you lose track of the life you’re living.
You don’t have another perfect life that will fall into your lap if you dream hard enough. It's your responsibility to shape this one into something that feels like your dream. Your life is art, but when you spend so much time watching other people paint, you forget about the canvas in front of you.
The gratification that comes with stillness, accepting who you are and what you’ve done lifts a weight off your shoulders. You chose the life of chasing after everything that makes you feel like you’re never enough for your own life. Living in other’s shadows instead of giving your shadow the chance to appear under the sun. It becomes easier if you choose to love your life the way it should be loved and step into tomorrow as you become one with the way time moves, which has always and will always be forward.
